CONDITIONS ON THE GROUND

We were consulted after construction had commenced thus a certain level of site disturbance had already occurred. We determined to preserve what was undisturbed, and not hold back for the spaces within that boundary.

INSIDE THE LOD

Taking cues from the architecture, space planning was carefully arranged and scaled within the lines of force emanating from the precedent set by the architecture. Compared to neighboring types of landscape design a more Seamless transition is achieved.

MASTER PLAN

Pre-empting full construction drawings the integrity of the design intent shown in this master plan was maintained through to completion of the project.

THREE DIMENSIONAL VIEW

The project was modeled not only to present to the owner but to fully understand form, massing relationships and scale. It was a valuable tool to help explain design intent, and collaborate with the Architect.

LEVITATION FOR THE POWER PLAYER

This cantilevered deck and floating steppers off the office are the owners favorite haunt as he takes his business calls.

NEVER ENDING DOOR

Working closely with the architect results in a seamless indoor-outdoor relationship in the continuity of design themes.

DEMANDING PROGRAMMING AGENDA

The backyard smartly arranges several outdoor rooms from the Yoga Studio under Himalayan Birches (front left) to the sunning deck behind and adjacent to the dining area. The list is extensive…within this view you can see an outdoor kitchen, plunge pool, lawn, reflecting pond, pool, bar, 3 fire pits, and putt-putt golf.

WELCOME TO THE JAGALA BABY

From Punjabi, “Jagala” means forest or jungle. A shady Yoga studio, imbued with meaning. The bark of the Himalayan birch was used as paper for lengthy texts in Sanskrit, especially in the Kashmir Province of India.

SOUND IN THE GARDEN

The water wall was placed outside the Master Bedroom Window, so its bubbles and trickles can be heard in the Bedroom at night. As designed, the striated basalt tile performs perfectly mimicking a brook.

DRAMATIC ENTRY

The office on the left connects to the entry foyer over this enclosed bridge. There is a glass panel on the floor of the bridge from which Koi can be seen. If you look closely you can see the terraced gabions through the window.

The four-acre site design for this contemporary home is a celebration of elemental forces; earth air fire and water.

This project synthesizes competing goals. Openness and privacy. Ruggedness and Sophistication. Riveting beauty of mountain-living, and highly functional outdoor spaces for a growing family are achieved smartly through boundless space planning and collaboration between Architect, Interior Designer and Landscape Architect.
