TOOELE APPLIED TECHNOLOGY CAMPUS

PROJECT SUMMARY

  • The facility will serve TATC’s main campus and will include space for community workshops; financial, counseling, placement, and student services; administration; and shared space with USU - Tooele Regional Campus to provide programs, resource center, distance education, library, and bookstore.

  • The 66,750 sf project will be located on 8.43 acres of USU Tooele Regional Campus property immediately northwest of the Tooele County School Districts Community Learning Center.

PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT

  • The Tooele Applied Technology College (TATC), needed a new facility to accommodate technical training to meet the existing and future work needs of Tooele County Employers.

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT’S ROLE

  • We were engaged as the Landscape Architects to preserve surrounding mountain views as well as create walking paths, outdoor green space that could be used for events, graduation ceremonies, volleyball, and studying and socializing of students.

  • We were asked to do this while being sensitive to water efficiency, indigenous surroundings and seamlessly bringing all these elements together in ways that were creative, playful, and engaging.

PROJECT IMPORTANCE

  • Connecting the indoor programs seamlessly with the outdoor spaces in ways that captivated and engaged the students and facilitated better learning experiences.
