Safety Considerations in Outdoor Sports Surfacing

The presentation objectives are:

• Evaluate traditional outdoor surfacing options in play spaces

• Identify critical safety concerns in the use of concrete or asphalt in children’s play areas

• Understand the potential for traumatic head, stress, and repetitive-use injury on non-resilient play surfaces

• Consider the safety and lifecycle-cost benefits of using available outdoor sports surfacing technologies
